UD students participate in summer research
This summer, more than 400 UD undergraduate students worked on a range of research projects in disciplines all across the University as well as in the community. The students collaborated with their faculty mentors and, in many cases, with other undergraduates and with graduate students, learning how original research takes place and creating new knowledge themselves.

2016 Horn Award
The Horn Program in Entrepreneurship honored five University of Delaware students with scholarships and awards for the 2015-2016 school year. Freshman Joel Amin, an International Business major with a minor in Entrepreneurship, was awarded the 2016 Horn Award, which is given to a student who promises to realize a great immediate benefit from the receipt of the award.

Horn Program in Entrepreneurship honored five University of Delaware students with scholarships and awards for the 2015-2016 school year. Jaclyn Anninos, a senior with a double major in Entrepreneurship and Marketing, was honored for her entrepreneurial leadership and social impact.

Shawn & Sheryl McCall Award for Entrepreneurship
The Horn Program in Entrepreneurship honored five UD Students with scholarships and awards for the 2015-2016 school year. Samantha Stokes, a sophomore majoring in Entrepreneurship, was honored for her entrepreneurial promise. She is currently developing a business called New Freedom Swim, which will produce stylish swimsuits that prevent tan lines.

Shawn & Sheryl McCall Award for Entrepreneurship
The Horn Program in Entrepreneurship honored five UD Students with scholarships and awards for the 2015-2016 school year. Eric Albers, a junior with a double major in finance and economics, was honored for his entrepreneurial promise and his work with Lazarus Rising, a social venture that is fighting homelessness through a program that provides job placement skills to those without permanent housing.

Local Students Named Top Seniors at UD
Robert Pagels and Gealina Dun have been selected as the recipients of the Alexander J. Taylor Sr. and Emalea Pusey Warner awards, respectively, as the outstanding man and woman of the University of Delaware's 2012 graduating class.
The awards are given annually by the UD Alumni Association to recognize the senior man and woman who most exemplify leadership, academic success and community service.

Local Students Win Writing Awards at the University of Delaware
Ten University of Delaware students were recognized by the Center for a Public Anthropology for their participation in a North American writing competition involving more than 4,000 students from 25 schools.
UD's winners of the Public Anthropology Award wrote opinion pieces about how federal regulations can be properly balanced to allow researchers the freedom to pursue important projects as they see fit while making sure that such freedom is not abused and that the research serves the public good.

Local Students Present at Nursing Conference
Does open visitation in the ICU help or hinder recovery? Can an oral care program reduce the incidence of ventilator-associated pneumonia in kids? What is the relationship between cognitive function and weight maintenance in heart failure patients?
Clinician researchers shared the results of studies addressing these and other questions at Advancing Nursing: Developing Excellence in Evidence-Based Practice and Research, a conference held at the Ammon Medical Education Center on the Christiana Hospital Campus on Friday, Nov. 3. Close to 150 people turned out for the event, including a large contingent from the University of Delaware.

Local Students Win University of Delaware Essay Contest
Seven University of Delaware students have been named winners in an essay contest sponsored by the First Year Experience Program and based on the book The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks.
Rebecca Skloot, the author of The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, visited UD on Oct. 13 to discuss her award-winning work as part of the University's 2011 First Year Common Reader Program.
