South Abington's Bamford chases entrepreneurial dreams with Geoswap

2016 Jul 28

South Abington Township native Jason Bamford is about to take his start-up business concept, Geoswap, to the next level.

The app is nearing liftoff thanks to the University of Delaware's Summer Founders Program, a highly selective program that provides a stipend, mentoring by successful entrepreneurs and education while students develop their concept.

The program is helping Bamford, a senior majoring in engineering at UD, turn his entrepreneurial dreams into reality.

Bamford's app, which improves social interactions through applications like Snapchat or Dropbox, is currently under construction by development teams in India and the U.S. and will be finished in a matter of months.

The Summer Founders Program, offered through the university's Horn Program in Entrepreneurship, helps participants bring their product to market and compete for venture capital (think "Shark Tank").

"The most appealing part for me was the access to amazing mentors, great culture and having the ability to fully devote time to one venture," Bamford said.
