Omar Duran wins McNair Scholars research poster competition

2013 Oct 25

The University of Delaware hosted the annual McNair Scholars Research Competition and Graduate Fair for the 11th year on Friday, Oct. 18. The highlight of the event, the poster competition, allows McNair Scholars to present their research projects to peers and the community.

This year, Duran and three other UD students won a shared $1,000 in cash prizes. Duran presented research and a poster titled, "Observing Invisible Corpses: Gender and Violence in Teresa Margolles's 'Embroidered Fabric.'"

Participants in the McNair Scholars Program are either first-generation college students with financial need or members of a group that traditionally have been underrepresented in graduate education and have demonstrated strong academic potential. UD is home to one of 158 McNair programs nationwide.
