New Castle native wins 2016 Horn Award

2016 May 4

Freshman Joel Amin, an International Business major with a minor in Entrepreneurship, has been named the 2016 Horn Award winner by the University of Delaware's Horn Program in Entrepreneurship.

He is one of five winners who will receive scholarships and awards in recognition of their entrepreneurial potential and achievements during the 2015-2016 school year. They will be officially recognized at an awards ceremony on May 13 in the Venture Development Center, located on UD's Newark campus.

Amin, who is from New Castle, Del., was selected because he was the student with the most promise to realize a great immediate benefit from the receipt of the award. It will be used to cover costs associated with Amin's business, a highly modernized networking and marketing platform for tradesmen. The platform will allow for users to easily connect with their customers, manage their work portfolios, save data and market to potential clients.

The Horn Award is funded by annual gifts from the faculty who teach Entrepreneurship-designated courses.

The Horn Program, housed in UD's Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics, offers students experiential learning, evidence-based entrepreneurship and active engagement with entrepreneurs, business leaders and members of the broader entrepreneurial ecosystem.
