Megan McCaffrey participates in 2014 alternative spring break program

2014 Apr 7

Megan McCaffrey joined hundreds of Blue Hens in lending a helping hand to communities in need in various U.S. cities this spring break.

The University of Delaware's alternative spring break program (UDaB), now housed in the Institute for Global Studies, sent approximately 200 students to participate in alternative spring break projects last week in New Orleans, Florida, New Jersey, West Virginia, Detroit, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C.

UDaB has grown dramatically in the past year, adding three additional trips to its roster and increasing the number of students by more than 50.

Earlier in the year, UDaB won a Liberty Mutual Responsible Scholars Alternative Spring Break video contest and received a grant for $2,000. The funding was used for moveable gardening supplies for the new Urban Environment trip to Philadelphia.

McCaffrey participated in the Cass trip.
