Benjamin Lefler named 2014 Goldwater Scholar

Benjamin Lefler is one of three University of Delaware students to earn a scholarship from the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation, considered the premier undergraduate award of its kind.

The scholarship is awarded to outstanding students who intend to pursue careers in the fields of mathematics, the natural sciences, and engineering.

Lefler is currently doing research on the synthesis and characterization of porphyrinoid derivatives, molecules that are similar to chlorophyll, the light harvester in plants.
