Allison Chelst completes first semester as University of Delaware World Scholar

2016 Feb 12

Allison Chelst of Bethesda, Maryland, is among 38 UD freshmen in the inaugural class of UD World Scholars. The students began their studies in Rome, Italy at UD's partner institution, John Cabot University, before continuing their exclusive undergraduate experience that includes foreign language study, an intercultural First Year Seminar, an international living and learning community, pursuit of a globally focused minor, a second experience abroad featuring an internship, research, or service learning, and a senior year capstone course and symposium.

Launched in fall 2015, the University of Delaware World Scholars Program is an innovative program for selected, high-achieving undergraduate students wishing to become educated as global citizens.

Within the next five years, the University plans to establish additional World Scholar sites in such locations as Hong Kong, Cape Town, and Madrid, enabling students to immerse themselves in myriad cultures and preparing them for careers across the globe.
